A woman away from her home city, meeting a dominant, wealthy man, involved in a pact of some sort that sees submission wrapped into disorientating sex games: It all sounds rather. "The way people look and dress an act, what you do, what you earn, how well educated you are, means nothing when you are stripped bare, desperately naked, vision violated, symbols of slavery strapped to your ankles, wrists and neck", reflects Blake at one stage, deep into the 'experiment.' Venturing into some uncomfortable territory, the plot challenges with questions of image and security - and an element of danger and the unknown, to boot. The unsettling idea of men in white coats juxtaposed with affection and tenderness seems a ripe ground for imaginative erotica.
